JailbreakMe 2.0 which has been released can be installed in the iPhone by visiting the Jailbreakme.com website which is installed through the mobile device via the Safari Web browser. One of the main developers of the JaimbreakMe tool said via twitter that there was some technical glitch initially with the JailbreakME and with MMS but it has been fixed now.

However there was an issue that the use of Jailbreaking is against the law under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), which restricted the circumvention of copy protection mechanisms. However the issue reached the government and Librarian of Congress announced a exemption over this issue and declared that installation of third party software are legal for non-infringing reasons on mobile phones doesn’t violate U.S. copyright law.

Apple never took any action for jailbreaking their iPhone devices and said that the practice of jailbreaking will lead to some technical glitch and may result in problems. Jailbreaking also will potentially invalidate the iPhone’s warranty, Apple has warned. Apple’s regular iPhone software updates often also invalidated the jailbreak modifications, and the jailbreaking software had to be regularly updated.
