Details of the plan will be released at a news conference on Thursday.

Sanders’ proposed budget, which is set to begin on July 1, will help reduce the city’s $56 million deficit.

Many have called the plans to cut the city’s parks and libraries funding dramatic.  The plan calls for libraries and recreational centers to reduce their hours by one-half.

A representative from the Police Officers Association believes that the San Diego Police Department is already stretched too thin and that if the city continues to cut funding, it may jeopardize the safety of its officers.

San Diego’s city council, which will still need to review the budget and approve of the plan, will begin to schedule public hearings for residents to attend and sound off.

The invitation, was sent to members of the media around 11 a.m. Eastern Time, featured a device that seemingly looked like a giant iPad with the number “2” in the center.

Since the initial release of iPad tablet, many competitors have worked with Google’s Android operating system to develop tablet devices. There has been no further indication of what the new iPad will physically look like but many technology bloggers believe the new devices will host new features like a front-facing camera, a feature current competitors like the Samsung Galaxy Tab and Motorola Xoom already have.

orporate headquarters of social media giant Facebook will once again be moving. Facebook will relocate to former headquarters for Sun Micro in Menlo Park, California. The move will mark the second time the company has moved in less than two years.

While staffing about 2,000 employees, the growing social networking company moves from Palo Alto in anticipation of growing its staff in the future.

The estimated date of the move will begin in June or July. The new campus will boast a 1-million-square-foot campus.

Currently Facebook services over half a billion users.

Protesting in Egypt has escalated, and government officials have increase their security forces. Police used tear gas and cannons on the protesters early Wednesday morning to dissolve the anti-government protesting. The Interior Ministry informed everyone that they “will not allow any provocative movement or a protest or rallies or demonstrations.”

Additionally, the Interior Ministry stated that “citizens to renounce attempts to bid and trade their problems and not lose sight of the consequences of provocation for those who attempt to try to open the door to a state of chaos or portray the situation in the country this way.”

It was estimated by the Interior Ministry that Tuesday’s demonstration consisted of anywhere between 5,000 to 10,000 protestors. Also, Tuesday’s demonstration has left four people dead – three protesters in Suez, as well as one police officer in Cairo.

Facebookers beware – the social network giant wants your mobile phone number and personal address.

Why your mobile number? Facebook claims that having a users cell phone number can help its developers create better programs, games, and social widgets – all of which will make a users Facebook experience that much better.

Some examples of how providing cell phone number and personal address could be useful includes a travel app that will text message a user when their flight has been delayed, or sending an item you bought online to the address you’ve provided on Facebook.

Facebook is moving towards making their user’s lives more convenient, but the announcement of requesting users cell phone number and personal address has been causing great controversy. Many critics have claimed Facebook is not taking into consideration of its user’s privacy, however, they do have settings that allow users to block their personal information.

Eight days after being shot in the head at point blank range, U.S. Rep Gabrielle Giffords was upgraded from critical to serious condition.

Gifford has been taken off a ventilator and is breathing on her own now by using a tracheotomy tube. Additionally, the Arizona Democrat underwent a procedure on Saturday to enable her to eat via a feeding tube.

The Tucson shooting, which was during an event called “Congress on Your Corner,” resulted in 19 people shot – 13 were wounded and six people died.

Jared Lee Loughner, the 22-year-old suspect, is currently in police custody.

Brazil’s official news agency reported Saturday that the death toll from the flooding in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to 591.

According to Agencia Brasil, Nova Friburgo and Teresopolis were the two cities that had the highest reported deaths.

Additionally, rescue workers have not been able to reach some of the hardest hit areas, creating a growing fear that the death toll may rise.

Rodrigo Neves, the state secretary of Social Welfare and Human Rights, stated that “The most important thing right now is to assist the homeless population and reach the most critical points.”

The death toll in Teresopolis and Nova Friburgo is 257 and 267, respectively.

In addition to the big announcement this past Tuesday that Verizon will begin to carry the iPhone, iPad users will also be able to connect their device through the Verizon network.

Before the announcement of the iPad to Verizon capability, iPad users who wanted to connect to Verizon’s network were buying external Verizon MiFi devices that allowed them to the internet since Wi-Fi wasn’t available yet.

Apple iPad users will be able to connect directly to Verizon’s 3G network. Additionally, there has been talk about being able to connect to the 4G LTE network.

Unfortunately, a date has not been set on when iPads will be equipped with Verizon chips – only time will tell.

On Tuesday, the parents of Jared Loughner apologized on the behalf of their son for the shooting he carried out that left six people dead, and left U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in critical condition from a gunshot to the head.

Loughner’s parents said in a statement that “There are no words that can possibly express how we feel. We wish that there were, so we could make you feel better. We don’t understand why this happened. It may not make any difference, but we wish that we could change the heinous events of Saturday. We care very deeply about the victims and their families. We are so very sorry for their loss. Thank you. The Loughner Family.”

A neighbor of the Loughner’s noted that the family is struggling with the whole situation, especially the father.

In addition to Gifford, there are five additional people that survived the shooting – three of which are in critical condition, and two in stable condition.
