America's First EV Quick-Charge Station Opens In Portland, Oregon

Portland General Electric and NEC have holded their hands together to come up with the first public use quick-charge station for electric in North America. This charge station is capable to provide battery charges up to 80% within a very short span of time (15 to 20 min). The charging station was initially installed in parking garage of the World Trade Center at 121 SW Salmon St in Portland and for the first time they are awarded certification and available to the public. With this availability US vehicle owners can make use of this rapid charge station for about 20 to 30 minutes lithium-ion battery boost which will bring battery strength up to 80 percent capacity.

The Governor of Portland said that rapid charging electric stations are great advancement in the latest technology to bring electric vehicles to Oregon. By making charging comfortable and making them available for public use, we are telling car manufacturers that Oregon is up for the next generation of electric vehicles – and we would like to make our state as a leader in incorporating these cars to the rest of the country.”

The new charging station provides power output of 50kw (50-500V, 0-125A), supports power input of AC200V±30V and complies with the CHAdeMO standard
